Pilot Production
Using Pilot Production service customers can accomplish one or all of the following
- Improve the manufacturing readiness of their technology including yield improvement to facilitate easier transfer to high volume manufacturing in future.
- Obtain a source of wafers during transfer to high volume manufacturing fab & qualification
- Sample products on the baseline process flow to meet end-customer commitments without losing time in transfer to HVM
- Manufacture products for low volume applications
A stable fab environment & quality systems enables faster cycles of learning and decision making during the Pilot Production phase, as well as wafer deliveries shipments on a agreed upon schedule. Customers get a committed ship date for the wafers based on the wafer processing start date and this enables customers to manage their overall project milestones.
The pre-requisite for Pilot Production is a frozen technology flow capable of being able to be run by SVTC operations without pre-determined engineering involvement, and a list of critical node measurements which will be used for SPC control.
