SVTC is extending its highly successful business model into the fast-growing photovoltaic industry by leasing an 87,000 square foot facility in San Jose, CA, for a new PV development center and hiring solar industry veteran Kurt Laetz to lead its newest unit, SVTC Solar.
SVTC Solar will:
Provide much needed development equipment and services to make it easier and more cost-effective for PV companies to commercialize new ideas.
Partner with other key PV development service providers to create an important resource support infrastructure for new and existing manufacturers of solar-related products.
Address the lack of adequate solar-related development facilities in California, as well as the broader need in the solar industry for a new support infrastructure, to match the explosion of development efforts by solar manufacturers.
Deliver to the PV industry the same kind of development alternative and business model that SVTC offers the semiconductor industry.
Enable the growth of a strong and sustainable solar industry in California.
Help create thousands of new green jobs.
SVTC Solar anticipates that it will complete the build out of improvements to its new facility by mid-June and that it will hold a grand opening in mid-summer, 2008.
